Love your Was it Worth it Posts, too! It's nice seeing the thought process behind your purchases. If you ever decide to give barrel leg jeans another go, Nelle Atelier makes a great pair for petite frames (under 5'4"). The Everlane Way High Curve in the shorter inseam is pretty good, too (Especially the white pair in the summer). They're high waisted so the proportions are better if you're not on the tall side. I tried so many barrel jeans and it's totally like Goldilocks trying to find the right pair. Most didn't work, so it's definitely tricky finding the right one. Love the red sweater on you!
Thanks, Mimi! The Everlane Way High Curve was actually the first pair I ever considered buying, and I still think about them! Maybe I'll wait 'til the spring or summer and try the white pair - I do love that they're high waisted. Haha it's definitely a Goldilocks situation with barrel jeans! x
I always love your Was it Worth it posts because you show the good and bad (maybe not “bad” but just “not right”). Anyways you seriously scored on knitwear and I’m glad to hear that the H&M premium delivered, I can never get to it before it sells out but I want to based on how much people love it.
Your red sweater makes you look like such a bombshell!!
Thanks, Kelly!! You’re always too kind! I’m trying to be more mindful of those purchases that aren’t necessarily bad but also don’t feel like anything special because I tend to regret those purchases later on. And yes, the H&M premium sweater definitely lived up to its hype! x
I bought these pants from Zara last year https://www.zara.com/de/de/bundfaltenhose-mit-verstellbarem-saum-p01689226.html and back then they still styled them differently and called them barrel shaped pants, which is definitely true. They are actually high waist and have a slight horseshoe shape but not that much and I found that for me and my height (159cm, so about 5'2/5'3) they don't overwhelm me as much as denim versions seem to do, hope that might help.
Oohh thank you for sharing!! That’s a great tip. I should try a pair of barrel-leg pants to see if they work better for me than the jeans. I’ll look into these! Thanks so much! x
Also, a random question I forgot to ask. I've never had to pay duties before. Based on your experience with Arket, is this something you knew before checkout or happens after checkout? I've seen it mentioned on some brand's websites but never experienced it myself. I often have such a hard time purchasing items I can't easily return if they don't work out. So I often opt to try on in store when possible. Though, this often means a lot of things I might like will not longer be in stock or I just miss out on a lot of items.
So with Arket, they had a disclaimer at checkout saying that other fees for import taxes/custom duties may apply upon delivery but didn't disclose how much. I took a risk and it was definitely a surprise how much it ended up costing. A lot of retailers now give you the option to pay them upfront when you checkout, which I think is way better because there are no surprises, and it's definitely deterred me from spending when I can see how much it would cost. I don't think I'd take the risk again, and am gonna try to stick to retailers that let you pay for those fees upfront. I definitely didn't expect them to cost that much!

Love red on you!!
Thanks, Ofelia!! Definitely a departure from my usual black/white/neutral shades but I’m loving the red, too. x
