I have been going to the same person for 10+ years and it’s something I look forward to from a social aspect, so I don’t mind paying $120 at all. Plus I KNOW she isn’t going to mess it up (even with a simple haircut, things can go awry… I’ve been there before). She did my hair for my wedding and she did my makeup last minute when my makeup person cancelled on me in the middle of the night (yes, I know) because he got booked last minute for QVC 😂😭 So I also feel like I am loyal to her for life (and she did a great job). Anyways, TLDR! But yea, that price is fine!!!

OMG I can't believe your makeup artist cancelled right before your wedding - gah! Makes sense you'd be loyal to your hair stylist for life, lol! But you're so right, part of it is the social aspect. I feel like when there's a connection that happens and you feel comfortable with who's doing your hair, it makes a huge difference. In between my first hair stylist and my one now, I went to one other person, and it was just so awkward and not at all enjoyable, so this is also why I avoid trying someone new! x

I think that a good haircut or color is worth it, especially because it's on view everyday. I do agree that whatever you 'pick' as your splurge, you are more likely to skimp on it other areas. I go a long time between cuts so I don't mind paying a higher rate. I'll always get a pedicure, but almost never a manicure, I'll get my eyebrows shaped but am thinking of those waxing strips for my upper lip, etc.

So true about it being worth it since it’s part of your everyday look - never thought of it that way! I also go a few months between cuts. I’m glad we’re in the same boat! x

I 10000% feel you on the haircut. I question it every single time but then I remind myself that I've loved my haircut each time. It still hurts a little - considering mine started at $60 over 5 years ago and now it's over $100.

Same - it stings to see the bill, but I'm always so happy with how it turns out so I keep coming back! x

I love how the BR kick flares look on you! They seem to have a bit more structure and recovery like High Sport than the Donni ones which I own.

And your hair looks 🤩🤩🤩!

I’ve never liked getting my hair done so I only get it cut and colored twice a year so it’s probably the same in the end but it always hurts to see the bill 😂 A great haircut goes a long way so I think it’s definitely worth it!

Even though it hurts to see the bill, twice a year ain’t bad!! And thank you! I agree - good hair goes a long way! x

I pay $400, including tip, for a trim + highlights every seven weeks — and I live in the middle of nowhere, and my hair is chin length & super fine. Like, most toddlers have thicker hair than me.

So I feel like $100-120 for a women’s cut is probably pretty normal these days unfortunately. It is my one beauty splurge, I don’t do nails or facials or anything. But I gotta have my platinum blonde ✨

It’s crazy to think that that’s the norm these days, but I think you’re right. It’s so fun to see what beauty treatments everyone splurges on and which ones they don’t!

I spend about the same as you on my haircut, and it does irk me a little bit. My hair is very fine and straight though, so ANY error is very noticeable. Now that I have someone I trust, I will not leave him unless I have to!

Trust is a big thing for sure! I just like the reassurance of knowing I'm going to like how my hair turns out every time.

I have the Gap and Old Navy version but I want to try BR! Your hair looks amazing and in San Diego I just paid $180 plus tip…omg. Don’t even get me started on my color. BUT I always say, you wear your hair every day, so might as well invest!

LOL, ok you made me feel better. Just looking at the number on its own feels like a lot for a cut, but you're so right - it's worth the investment since you wear it every day - as long as you're happy with it!! x

I love these posts of yours and I am especially happy for your report on the pants from BR. I tried them on (regular length) and wasn't crazy about it BUT I think the petite could really work for me.

PS- You look gorgeous in the photo of your anniversary! What a fun tradition!!

Thank you!! You're too sweet! I definitely think the length matters with the BR pants. When I tried them on in the store, they were the regular length and I didn't love them either, but I had a feeling the petite would work out. Also, I've heard some people prefer the straight cut vs. the flare version. x

Ooh I think the "is it worth it" conversation is so interesting. I am loyal to nobody and go to Super Cuts for a $30ish haircut maybe once a year. I also buy $15 highlighting kits and do it at home. For me, hair is a renewable resource that just keeps growing, so I'm not worried about it being messed up. Everything is fixable! BUT I am non-negotiable about Botox, which I get without fail every 3 months. That's my beauty splurge and I hadn't really thought of myself as loyal, but you bet I go to the same office and see the same woman every time. I guess this is a perfect example of "different strokes for different folks." It's worth it if it it's worth it to you!

Totally. Everyone is different when it comes to what they splurge on vs save and I love hearing others’ takes, so thank you for sharing! If I was spending on other beauty treatments, I’d definitely prioritize like you and find a cheaper alternative for haircuts. x
