Your outfits won’t feel flat if you have on jewelry! Jewelry doesn’t come off when you enter someone’s Home. My earrings are so light, I wear to bed. I definitely need earrings to jazz me up. You can also buy a nice silver cuff as an alternative to gold. I wear my silver Elsa Peretti cuff with my gold jewelry.
When I was brainstorming about holiday dressing the brilliant Jennifer Kee mentioned that she likes wearing fun socks since shoes are often off at family functions. That being said; I’m loving wearing colored sock and now I’m going to hunt for a sheer pair.
I am also loving layering tops so that it creates that visual interest PLUS keeps me warm when I do go outside.
I’ve been looking for sheer socks since Kelly wrote about a pair of flats in her One Star reviews! I’ve also been trying to wear colored socks as well. I have a pair of yellow with pink flower socks that are always a nice and unexpected touch.
Also, +1 to the turtleneck under sweaters! I did this for NYE but under a lady jacket and I felt more polished with that small change.
Thanks, Ofelia! I like the idea of coloured socks, too! I think I just have to find the right ones to experiment with. Love that yours adds a bright pop of colour. x
Thanks for reading, Sigrid! I agree - love the look of a complete outfit, but I admit it can be hard when you have a different lifestyle and are comparing what you wear day-to-day to what you see online. x
I am also a big sheer sock knee high fan! I love them with an ankle length trouser and then a strappy heel. That’s sort of my go-to for winter work/fancier events. As always, you’re sharing the chicest inspo!
I always wore them with long skirts and dresses and don’t know why I didn’t consider wearing them with jeans/pants before. Such a smart go-to! Thanks for reading, Emily! x

Love the idea of a silver cuff. It’s on my wish list!
Sent you a jewelry post.
Love these tips! I want to try the turtleneck under cardigan one soon. Thank you for including me ♥️ xx
Of course! I’m such a fan of your Substack. x
All such great ideas! Plus one for the sheer sock! It’s like texture and warmth but also a bit cool and interesting and unexpected!
Thanks, Angie! Your chat with all the daily outfits for your January challenge has seriously brought so much inspo this month! x

This was a brilliant post!
Thanks, Kelly!! Who knew we’d be putting such an emphasis on socks for our outfits, but it really does make a difference sometimes, lol! x
Thank you so much for the mention! Love how you’re incorporating bold jewellery to brighten up winter outfits ❤️
Thanks, Sasha! I loved your post - it definitely inspired me to check out some of those consignment shops when I'm in the city next. x
Love everything about this!

I'm still trying to find ones I absolutely love and aren't insanely priced!
Love this - sometimes it seems like all advice is centered around adding great outerwear and boots.
